Title: Riddle: Yes No
Post by: Lover on February 09, 2013, 08:22:10 AM
One person gives one sentence of a story. The other ask questions, that only can be answered "yes" or "no". All  other questions or statements won't be answered. You have to figure out the solution.

Statement:
Jack and Judy were lying on the floor dead. There was a puddle of water and broken glass on the floor. How did they die?

- If you know this riddle, don't asnwer at once. Give others a chance to solve it.
- Remember, don't make statements or guess - they will be ignored
- I just answer to questions with yes or no.

Stone may post a new one if she wants.. the riddle is solved. I thought she would give the solution in one statement but there is nothing to add. If stone doesn't want I add a new one.

Jack and Judy are red fish, their fish bowl toppled and they died.

Mr. Smith lives on the 30th floor of his apartment building. Every day he takes the elevator down from his apartment to the lobby. After work, he takes the elevator from the lobby to the 15th floor and walks up the stairs the rest of the way. On rainy days he takes the elevator all the way from the lobby to the 30th floor. Why?
Title: Re: Riddle: Yes No
Post by: bluedenim on February 12, 2013, 01:53:00 PM
Hmmmmmm I know the answer, but I need another riddle first

ok, the man is short and when he's going down, he can reach the G button in the elevator
when he comes back from work, he can't reach the 30 button, he can only reach the 15 button unless it's a rainy day, when he takes an umbrella to work, and when he gets home he can reach the 30 button with the umbrella
:)

A car came by driving 45 miles an hour whose headlights were both broken; it swerved and narrowly missed the dog. How did the car avoid hitting the dog under such conditions?

ok, I am useless at these riddles but  I just have to have a go

I think the Stars awash bit     is    the full moon shining bright

The next 4 lines I think are referring to a were wolf ....

Not  sure what the wax line is referring too

And I'm guessing the hidden weapon  is a gun with silver bullets....

I'm probably completely wrong , but  that's the image it invoked when I read it.

So  Is it a Were Wolf?    and   Am I even Close ?

Title: Re: Riddle: Yes No
Post by: Lover on August 05, 2013, 03:02:51 PM
@ Tango: You're right.

Solution:
Mr. Box and Mr. Door had been in the navy together years ago. They had both been on a ship that had shipwrecked in the Pacific. A group of men had survived on a liferaft but didn’t have any food. Mr. Door was a navy doctor. He suggested that he would amputate each of their left arms for food. There was, however, no other doctor available to amputate Mr. Door’s arm. To make it fair, Mr. Door promised that when they were back home again, he would have his arm amputated also. Mr. Door had sent Mr. Box an arm in the mail. Mr. Box assumed it was Mr. Door’s arm, but when Mr. Box visited Mr. Door and saw that he still had both of his arms, he became very angry that Mr. Door had not followed through on his side of the bargain and shot him.

Question: In 1843, in North Carolina, two sisters married two brothers and they all lived under the same roof. From there, things went bad. Although the two brothers were considered inseparable, the two sisters began to quarrel to such a degree they had to move to separate houses. The two brothers weren't overly pleased with the separate house situation and as a result they quite often couldn't be bothered going home. Neither brother concealed the fact that if he stayed out all night, it was a good bet he spent the night in another woman's bed. Although both sisters were hot tempered and jealous, for some reason they must have put up with their husbands' sleeping around since they never divorced and each bore several children. What could account for these two headstrong sisters turning a blind eye to their husbands' indiscretions?

Trivia:
Chang, the more dominant of the two, began drinking towards the end of his life, and incredibly, the teetotaler Eng suffered the hangovers.

You approach two talking doors. One door leads to the City of Truth, while the other door leads to the City of Liars. You do not know which door is which. You are able to ask only one question to determine which door is which. The door that leads to the City of Liars always speaks lies, while the door that leads to the City of Truth always speaks the truth. You want to go to the City of Truth. What question do you ask to determine which door leads to the City of Truth?

I think you have the right idea Jondas, but the wrong answer...
If you ask the lying door, he will say that the other door will lie, if you ask the truth door, he will say that the other door will lie.

What you have to do is ask the door "If I ask the other door if you would lie to me will he say yes?"
The lying door will have to say no
The truth door would say yes, so the door that answered yes is the truth door!
:) Even if it does earn me a paddling from Rukya! (I should be so lucky!)

You are standing next to three switches. You know these switches belong to three bulbs in a room behind a closed door – the door is tight closed, and heavy which means that it’s absolutely impossible to see if any bulb is on or not. All three switches are now in position off.

You can do whatever you want with the switches and when you are finished you open the door and go into the room. While in there you have to tell which switch belongs to which bulb.

How will you do that?

Yay, I can do this one!
You switch one switch on for a little while, then switch it off, then switch the next one on & open the door.
the bulb that is lit is the switch that is on. the bulb that is still warm is the one you just switched off and the remaining bulb is the last switch.

:)))
