Title: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)

Just restarting the thread here so we can continue where the original thread leaves off.

2012 with John Cusack, directed by Roland Emmerich.

Haven't seen 2012, but love John Cusack. Grosse Point Blank is a personal favorite. I THOUGHT he was resurrecting the character for War Inc. and he sorta did, but the movie was SO heavy handed in it's message I couldn't choke it down.

Post by: sinnnn on July 03, 2010, 04:19:27 AM
I wanted to marry Cussack.  Loved him in Better off Dead, Sixteen Candles(he was so cute). 2012 was good.  Had my boy Woody.  I love him.  Have you seen ZombieLand, funnnny.

Post by: Lover on July 03, 2010, 04:31:44 AM
ZombieLand was funny. First I thought, uh, once more a bad film with zombies ( I loved the original one), but I changed my mind.
Grosse Point Black is a great movie!

Post by: Janine Dee on July 03, 2010, 04:40:12 AM
If ZombieLand is the one I am thinking of I haven't, but want to.

And Lover, War Inc sort of has his Martin Blank character, but it's overpowered by the INTENSELY political message. I bought it for like two bucks at the closing of a video store... and wanted my money back. I would not recommend.

Post by: Lover on July 03, 2010, 04:51:06 AM
If we are talking about Grosse Point Black you may not forget I am no American. In some movies (and this is one of them) I do not look for a political message; for European people it's a funny comedy.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on July 03, 2010, 04:55:05 AM
No, not in Grosse Point Blank... that movie War Inc that has a very similar character, and yes you might not feel it as heavy handed, but I do think you would notice.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Lover on July 03, 2010, 04:58:04 AM
I just was wondering, as you wrote Grosse Pointe Black is one of your favs. I never watched War Inc. - I even never heard of this one, probably I was little confused, as I never mentioned War Inc.

They are both Cussak and his characters are VERY similar.

The Last Airbender--special effects a 10.  Acting a 5.  Entertainment factor a 5 1/2.  I can wait for the sequels to hit dvd. ;D

Did we already mention "Blues Brothers"? A must have!

I don't think we did, but I completely agree. I'm still thankful for being sat down and told I had to watch it.

Oh my, how did we all miss The Blues Brothers. excellent movie, funny, lots of great music. A big part of my learning to love the blues genre.

How bout Animal House, Porkys, What's up Doc and Carrie.  Yeah I'm going old with this one.  Arsenic and Old Lace old Cary Grant movie(1944).  Cabin in the Sky. Funny Lady.  Eddi and the Cruisers.  The Warriors.  Must not forget The Color Purple.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Lover on July 05, 2010, 06:21:40 AM
We go back in time, ok: "Witness for the Prosecution", 1957 by Billy Wilder with Marlene Dietrich.

Porkys... I remember pubescent pupils... both on screen and in the audience ;D

Arsenic and Old Lace is indeed on of the classics;

Jimmy Stewart's... "Harvey" is another fav

Original 65' version...Flight of the Phoenix,  the 2004 remake was ok but not nearly as good IMHO as the original.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Lover on July 05, 2010, 07:35:12 AM
I agree with Flight of the Phoenix, though I like Dennis Quaid (The Big Easy, Innerspace, Suspect, D.O.A., Great Ballss Of Fire, Undercover Blues, Traffic, Day After Tomorrow).

Harvey... wonderful! That reminds me to Hitchcock's Trouble with Harry and the variant of this, Weekend At Bernie's.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: sinnnn on July 05, 2010, 07:58:23 AM
I like IRobot, Armaggedon, Deep Impact,  AI and a kids classic Flight of the Navigator.  Love Robin Williams' movies.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on July 05, 2010, 09:41:15 AM
You want great Dennis Quaid then you should see Undercover Blues. He and Kathleen Turner are married spies. He's a martial arts master and she's the markswoman, and it's hilarious.

A couple of fav's from my dvd Library,...primarily due to local connections and interests

Seabiscuit...a true story equestrian story.
13th Warrior...(may have been mentioned before) another fav' from the library

as a footnote...
Hildago...although was purported to be a true story, IT IS BEST CONSIDERED FICTION!,(modified this because it has not been proven false, but there is no historical race which matches the description and certain iinvestigations have raised serious questions as to Hopkins own autobiography in authenticity) don't let the tag lines based on real events take you for a ride.  Farnk T. Hopkins' writings as to the American mustang, (one of which I adopted and trained), were real,...that's about the only truth to the man that I have discerned at this time. I know many Europeans have an interest in the western stories, this one,...well represents how folklore sometimes grows beyond reality. I personally still enjoy the story.

Janine, I mentioned Undercover Blues. It's a good one, though I like Innerspace and Big Easy more.

Post by: sinnnn on July 05, 2010, 01:59:02 PM
Ohh bear we true blood movie friends.  13warrior, Hildago are in my collection.  Pathfinder was actually not bad. Adam Sandler movies are funny.  Love 51 date, Happy Gilmore, Mr. Deeds, Click, etc.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Bear on July 05, 2010, 02:30:49 PM
Liked Pathfinder,...though personally think it paled to 1992 movie "Last of the Mohicans"...(actually the 5 book Leatherstockings series, the third of which is entitled  Pathfinder wiritten by,...Cooper I think the last name is, is a hard copy series I have around here somewhere. One of the classics  written in the 1800's.  Haven't read it in years probably due for a reread.... cross thread reference I know)

Maybe true blood movie friends since I like the Sandler movies you mentioned, have 50 First Dates , Mr. Deeds in the collection.

K, I finally saw The Rocky Horror Show.  I'm still reeling in shock.  They had to have been totally wasted to make that movie.  Loved it tho. ;D
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Lover on July 06, 2010, 06:46:53 AM
No sinnnn! You, a movie junie, did not see this one before? Impossible. But now, let's do the time warp :D
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Bear on July 06, 2010, 08:31:19 AM
I am in equal shock that she had not seen it before,..., it's a movie best experienced at a midnight showing where the cult followers do their audience participation. Not even certain if still occurs, but it always stood out as that unique movie experience.

"It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane,
Let's do the Time Warp again!"

lol,..might be a good party setting for erotic fantasies,...though the guys might be uncomfortable with the required costume dressed in corsets, fishnet stockings and heels...
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: sinnnn on July 06, 2010, 08:34:44 AM
OK rub it in please.   Every time it came on something distracted me.  But I saw it now and I think I need to be wasted to watch it.  I like that rp idea bear.  Guys in corsets, sweet.  Maybe we should ask for that in the outfit section.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on July 06, 2010, 11:06:14 AM
Hey! Let's get the girls in corsets first!

What I think I love best about RHPS was Tim Curry.

Which leads to my next movie mention Clue. Based on the board game it is HILARIOUS. An amazing cast list, an incredible script, and if you haven't seen it I can't recommend it highly enough.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: sinnnn on July 06, 2010, 11:27:03 AM
Thats another movie that was on my list to see but I never got the chance.  Then I forgot about it, which is funny since I still play the game.  LOL

Love Tim Curry.  I love watching him talk.  His mouth is hypnotic.  He was great in Annie.

Post by: Lover on July 06, 2010, 11:33:23 AM
Corsets for girls please! Hm, I think about the clothes we are able to buy... why can't women and men buy all the clothes we have?
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on July 06, 2010, 11:39:59 AM
Actually Lover, making all clothes basically unisex seems a really good idea.

That said women look hot in corsets, and I would rather look at a woman in a corset then a Sweet Transvestite.  :P

And Sinnnn sweetheart? Watch it! I still have to call it my favorite comedy.

You have only to ask and i will make it so.  Just asked for it from netflix, you got me wrapped around your finger.

Big Trouble in Little China. ;D

Post by: Bear on July 07, 2010, 07:39:10 AM
You two,...back to the theater ::)

Yes, get corsets on the woman first,...a very hot look

Only caught Clue on tv, isn't there a number of variations to the ending?
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on July 07, 2010, 09:03:37 AM
LOL we never left, but you seemed to.

And yep, it has three endings. Two variable, and one that they designate as THE ending. Though a fun feature with my dvd is that you can have it select at random. Then it just shows the one (ala the board game... kinda).

He also was funny in Scary Movie 2. The Scary Movie films are a nice pastime. As SM 4 was called the final film, of course they are making another one.

Point Break was a great film. I loved the counterpoint  between Patrick Swayze, and Keanu Reeves.   You will be missed Patrick.

Well if we are talking Patrick, Dirty Dancing and RoadHouse.

Janine finished watching Clue today.  Loved it, alternate endings was funny.  :-*  LOVE JIM Curry

:) Glad I could turn another person on to a great movie. There's a reason Curry was Wordsworth, and Wordsworth was such a pivotal character.

The guy (Curry)  has a knack for facial expressions which come off natural,...definitely enjoy watching him.

Leslie Nielson fan besides...(Airplane, Police Story...Scary Movie 4) that man has been in quite a number of films over the decades,...I know Forbidden Planet filmed  in the 50' one his first movies.

Politically I hate both sides equally for reasons that are surprisingly similar. I say this because I think my favorite role I've seen Leslie Neilsen in is "An American Carol", A VERY political movie, but still hilarious in my opinion.

An American Werewolf In London by John Landis. John Landis made many great movies like Kentucky Fried Chicken (the first of Abrahams, Zucker, Zucker), Blues Brothers, Trading Places and another great one with Eddy Murphy, Coming to America

We just spoke about "Pulp Fiction". Also "From Dusk Till Dawn" is great and "Kill Bill" funny ;) He also made one of the best episodes of CSI, Grave Danger (author) and produced "Hostel 1 & 2".
Yes, Quentin is a multi talent.

2012 was awesome, though some parts were iffy. I went to see Toy Story 3 in 3d, there wasn't a LOT of 3d in it, but it still was a good movie. I'm honestly excited for Saw 7, but I don't know how they'll continue with it, Saw 6 looked like a good enough ending for the movies to me.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)

@ Chance: I agree, Saw 6 had a good ending. And also Saw 5... I read that there will be Saw 7.

The thing I can say most about Saw is that they always seem to think of something. They've done a great enough job that I'll keep following where they lead.

Loved the new The Karate Kid.  Enjoyed Sorcerer's Appentice.  Loved Toy Story 3.  The Last Airbender, rather watch the animated version over and over again.  Fucking loved the hell out of Inception, it was AWESOME.

Fine then.  Love the new James Bonds, they were raw, gritty and down to earth.  I do enjoy the old ones with the gadgets and all but the new version made it more human(more believable).

That's the problems with the new bonds movies. It's too real. for me James bond could use a diving suit, fight with sharks and when he remove the suit he's wearing a with smoking in perfect condition and ready to go to the vilain's cocktail ;).

Black Beauty was a good movie.  Another movie I thought was funny was called Meet the Feebles.  Its the Muppets on all the drunks and liquer known to man.  Sickest thing I almost ever seen.

I have to agree on the modern Bond. I think I mentioned in the book thread Don Pendleton's Executioner and how he strove for realism? It spoiled me, and now I can barely watch the over the top action stuff.

On a note for realism... Daylight. There's no gun play or anything, but a very "real" feeling movie.

sinnnn, you wrote you love the new Karate Kid. I think you're talking about Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith? This one is starting in Germany. I will watch it.

What about Cameron Diaz & Tom Cruise in "Knight And day"? This one also is starting soon, is it worth to watch it?
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: sinnnn on July 22, 2010, 11:23:26 AM
Yup the one with Jackie was good. The original Karate was great but this version made it more raw and beautiful.  They tore that lil boy a new one,  when he got hit I clutched my own stomach.  lol

Knight and Day, rather wait til it hits DVD.   But the movie to go see is Inception with Leo Dicapo.  I not going so say more on it but that I want to see it again.  Splice is better of waiting for DVD.  Going to see Salt this weekend, let you know bout that if you want.   ;D

I don't know about Salt; probably this will appear later on this year here. But of course, tell us about it.

The Silence of the Lambs with Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. Both are great. But almost better is Red Dragon, the first part of Hannibal the Cannibal

The Blair Witch Sequels were all bad ideas. The first one was awesome, and proof that you don't need huge budgets to make good movies, but the sequels were the big money guys squealing "Us too!"

Resident Evil: Afterlife was the best Res by far.  Loved it.  And my two girls were hot.  Could have did without the 3d, not a fan of that so much.  :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;D 8) 8) 8) 8) :-* :-* :-* :-*

Good to hear about Resident Evil Afterlife,..local theater just installed a 3D system, so I'll be interested in seeing how that plays out. IMO just another ploy to raise the prices, but the gods of marketing are certainly using it to buffer slagging revenues. Hopefully they can development movies worthy of the investments, (god a 100k for installation of the equipment is pretty hefty, luckily this theater is pretty much progressive in thinking and catering to new technology, otherwise it's a 100 miles to the nearest 3d system).

I'll wait for the Expendables to come out on dvd..
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on September 13, 2010, 04:45:04 PM
I don't think my local theater has 3D... though I'd feel obligated to see RE 3 first... but I'm planning on Netflix next month. So I can see RE 3, and then 4 and Expendables when they come out, but all three DO sound interesting.

Oh, and I was never able to get too much into Blade. The first one had the vamps part science and part sorcery (serums and Blood Gods) then it just became science, and kinda boring. Between that and nullifying the touching moment when his mentor had been tortured and turned and shot himself so he wouldn't rise as a vamp... meh. There are better vamp movies IMO.

I always grade sequels on a curve. It wasn't as good as the first, but sequels rarely are. I LIKED seeing how everyone was falling in behind the brothers. I also adored Julie Benz... add the red hair and the drawl, top off with a cowgirl outfit......... sorry got distracted there, but I REALLY dig the movies, both and I'm hoping a third does come to fruition.

I didn't watch Salt at the theaters, just a blueray at home.

@Janine: Salt -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0944835/

I had to check out the cowgirl outfit again in Boondock Saints 2 and its nice in a stylish way. I like it when they have good outfits that are not slutty. I like Angelina Jolies outfits in the first parts of Salt too.

the move The Town was great.  Loved it, took Ben Affleck long time but he earned back my respect.  Hate when good actors keep picking bad movies, make them look like cute dolls with no talent.

Red was great.
Resident Evil- again I want that chic.  Loved the movie can't wait til the 5th one comes out.
The Sorcerers Apprentice- loved it
2012 was funny
Jonah Hex- looked good but sooo not going in my collection(look good was the chic playing his side kick whore ::))
The Expendables-loved it
Predators- was actually GOOD
Knight and Day- surprised me, it was really good

Of course going to see Harry Potter, YESSSSSSS and Tron(loved it as a kid, so have to see this new one).

I dunno about Salt, the suspense often annoys me because it is VERY easy to draw it out TOO long and loose the viewers interest. In many ways I prefer a more clearly drawn story like the Boondock Saints where I can see where and how it develops rather then a movie that tries to get clever.

If they sew those threads well it's fine, a horror example would be my beloved Saw movies where the threads are laid out, you just get to see the full weave at the end. Some just get TOO subtle and TOO clever and annoy the fuck out of me.

As far as Affleck, I may have said I liked the Daredevil movie and liked him in it. I felt he really gave the character a humanity that so often is missing in superhero portrayals.

... and again Sinnnn tempts me  ;D I think I'll check Netflix to see if RE3 has made it on there.

Other then that interested in Predators (friends gave mixed reviews) and The Expendables (have heard only good things).

I like the clever movies more (:P) like Memento, Fight Club, A Beautiful Mind and Shutter Island. But the clearly drawn movies can be good when you just want some easy entertainment, its really not like I don't enjoy them.

They CAN be enjoyable, they can also very easily become pretentious. I don't like my entertainment to think it's better then me.  :P

Lmao, it feels more like some mind practice for me. :P

Well if they become pretentious it gets abit silly and if you know abit more about a subject they usually use it the wrong way in movies.

Oh if you liked Memento then you might like Identity and Nightwatch with Euegen MeGreger(Iknow I spelled his name wrong, The cute guy from Trainspotting, Star Wars 123, Moulin Rouge).

@Sinnnn
I'm abit dissapointed with the Harry Potter movies, I've read the books and the movies are usually abit childish. But then movies always feel rushed and that they misses alot when you've read the books first, was the same with Twilight.

Those do, though I find sparikling girls better than sparkling guys. I don't see why guys need to sparkle. :P

In the first Twilight movie, during the second biology class they show Bellas face when she's watching Edward look into the microscope. She kinda coils her toungue and looks quite horny. They didn't have to make it that obvious. :D

Btw a friend showed me this youtube clip, don't look at it if you're not ready to take people making fun of Twilight :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLSgwTOqQTA

I'll have to take your word for it. For me a several century old vampire choosing to be in high school is too stretched a premise. At least Buffy had Angel stalking the high school girl rather then a classmate.  :P

I may get some (justified) flame for this, but I heard enough when the movie was first coming out I haven't watched it or read the books.

Might not be your kinda of romance as its only about male female relationships with lots of hot guys in the movie... some topless... yummy. :P

I find Titanic better though... I kinda end up crying each time I see that movie. :-[

Oh Honey, I'm not talking about the Male/Female thing (which admittedly I don't get  ;) ), but I'm talking about a being that has walked the Earth for centuries sitting through a high school geometry class.

Well they do tend to find new ways to solve stuff.(LOL).   Education is freedom.  (LOL)  But what I don't get if we want to go all RL on it.  Is a 90yr vamp finding a 17yr interesting.  Really there is nothing for them to really discuss.  But then again she was his soul mate(or whatever they call it-I forgot) so maybe with that age doesn't really matter.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Adera on November 26, 2010, 09:41:22 PM
Hmm even if the romance is abit naive and so I still found the books good. I must say Ashley Greenes pixey haistyle is really cute, I think I'll have to try a style like that sometime.

Not going to comment on 90yr guy with 17yr girl thing... kinda pedo when its put like that.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Bear on November 27, 2010, 01:32:12 AM
Must be pretty good at geometry at this point,...see it creepy though too,...definite feel of bubble gum appeal to romanticize something in my mind,...which is dark and foreboding. Perhaps the books dwell on the darker issues of inner struggle of controlling the blood need. I just do not see it, feel it in the movie.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on November 29, 2010, 06:46:42 AM
That gets to the heart of how I feel about Twilight.

Vampires can be good, they have human minds. I've never liked the Medieval Church version that simply has them demons in human flesh.

Even Joss Whedon who used that in this day and age so Buffy could kill and kill and kill and not be bad strayed pretty early with the whole soul curse idea.

BUT they are still predators. Angel, Nick Knight, they had to fight their blood thirst.

Edward Cullen is like Spike once put it "A big cuddly puppy with bad teeth." Except he doesn't even have the bad teeth really.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Adera on November 29, 2010, 06:58:01 AM

Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Bear on November 29, 2010, 10:30:45 AM
In modern literature yes,...the human side, a premise that such a creature had the capacity,. to recognize rationalize right , wrong,...a lingering thread of humanity. The chaos of medieval times,..constant warfare,...nomadic invasions which continual crashed over society stripping it of any semblance of culture and development,...it was called the dark ages for a reason.

Vampires of myth were unholy resurrections,...predators on the faithful, and the church the frail thread of holding the seams of society together.  It did not disapprove of science,..surprisingly,...but it did assess whether discoveries were in accordance with the faith. Even now,...evidence is surfacing that Galileo's condemnation by the church was was possibly a result of a snafu on his part of not following proper church protocol in the hearings.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Bear on November 29, 2010, 10:33:38 AM
Meant to add though,...the development in literature of such a creature with the capacity to feel remorse,...is interesting.

Been dealing with that premise myself on a story I have tried hammering together through the summer,...only the subject werewolves,...

@Janine
He sure does, but he drinks the blood from animals... though doing that is not possible for all kinds of vampires I've read about and its just a last resort for some kinds. I personally like the vampires in The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on November 29, 2010, 03:54:22 PM
Bear... to be praising the Church as a social institution of the Dark Ages is like praising medicine of the Civil War. Yes it may have kept them going, but anything beyond that seems to split the hair rather thin. To say that Galileo's condemnation was any better because of a snafu... I'm sorry, but that almost seems worse. A misguided act of faith seems better to me then condemning someone for not following procedure.

And that's not even touching on how they handled women of learning... two steps away from the Taliban most of the time.

As far as the feelings of such creatures... look at THE vampire story Dracula... remorse may be stretching it, but Drac DID feel love. He was more then a simple predator.

But if I'm remembering my literature right the vampire as a creature of story, rather then folklore, came into being with the Victorian, where they were actually meant as more facets of humanity unrestrained.

So we have to first draw a line between folklore and fiction.

For my favorite vampiric fiction, Vampire the Masquerade the RPG by Mark Ryan Hagen or the tv show made from the same Kindred: The Embraced has yet to even be touched by any other.

And people have a right to like Twilight, I would never deny them that. I will just never, ever, ever... ever be one of them.  ;D

To be honest I don't really like religion, they're a cause of war and missery. Sure alot of people find solace in it, but the whole religion thing is quite conservative and feels abit out of date. I don't see anything wrong with people believing i god and praying but religions are a whole other thing for me.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)

When it comes to religion. To each his own, find your peace in whoever you believe in just don't beat anyone upside the head with your bible.  As far as I am concern there is no wrong religion, its whatever gets you close the God.  And its not religion thats bad, its the people that makes it a weapon.  Everyone has a agenda and they like to use religion to push it.

Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)

Doesn't have to be religion. Communist Russia was a atheist nation, they still found plenty of reasons to hate and kill. In many cases to punish those who dared to have their religious beliefs.

It's the people perverting their beliefs, not the beliefs.
Title: Re: Favorite Movies (remake from Say...)
Post by: Bear on November 29, 2010, 07:47:12 PM
It's the people perverting their beliefs, not the beliefs.

Believe you are right victorian,..and for the record,...the fiction is so much more interesting than the folklore.

I just don't like people taking advantage of others through religion and yes good ideologies can turn out really bad as well.

I'm not sure I agree with no wrong religions, Scientology is very wrong to me. Believing in lizardmen or whatever that will punnish some and make everything right is just fucked up, thats what I think about all sect like things and sects too.

In germany it named "Alles erlaubt-eine Woche ohne Regeln"...there are 2 married buddys they are both unhappy with their sex lives and missing the old days when they were single...realizing this, their wives decide to give them a "Hall Pass": A week off from marriage, in which they can have sex with other women....they are skeptical at first, but ultimately accept the offers and try to pick up women with their friends...so they try a week long to get their youth back..but guess what..it isn't easy...sooo funny

THE HIGHLANDER....none of the sequels...they destroyed the continuity...connery and lambert both were forced by a court to make Highlander II.....the action is great, the soundtrack is awesome, and the original plot and storyline were both original and amazing....very few movies come close to the total package HIGHLANDER presents....as for any movie by James Cameron...he spends too much, his plots are usually weak and if you remove the flash you're left with shit....I may be a perv but the big drawback to the titanic was putting 1990 morals on 1910 characters...and if any of you like the movie....against all odds...or cape fear for that matter...watch a movie named out of the past or the original cape fear...much much more disturbing

Were they REALLY forced by a court to make Highlander 2? It SUCKED so that makes sense, but I didn't realize they had a judicial gun to their heads.

If they had provisions in their original contract for a sequel,  yes they could be forced by court order to perform...

dunno if you had mension this two series (i don't had read all!), so excuse me......what about Alien and the last two movie about Batman (Begin and The Dark Night)!? Alien is one of the few sample when a sequel is better of the first movie!

Agree with Alstott, hangover is great and a worthy continuation.
Yes hentai, Alien 2+3 were better than Alien 1.
Final destination 5 is also made very well.

The Christian Bale Batman... yeah, they wanted to make a "realistic" super hero movie. No radio active spiders, no gamma radiation, just someone (let's be honest) insane enough to put on a costume and run around fighting crime, and it turned out magnificently.

I give Keaton credit, and Clooney tried, but had crap for a script.

But they still got more then a little painful.

Bale has talent AND the right movies to use it on.

How did Bale go from the skinny aneroxic dude in The Machinest, to the buff dude in Batman Begins?. They werent that far apart.

well, the old Batman movies was to cartoonist style but had their nice side. the new batman is more "realistic" and dark in some scene.

Actually I felt Keaton kept it as "real" as the script allowed, it was after him that they started playing up the camp... almost like a REALLY big budget version of the 70's Batman show.

Either way they were still feeling it was a movie based on a comic, so they seemed ready to play things up at will. With Batman Begins, and Dark Knight they wanted to take the Batman story fully into the real world.

I mean even the villains are those who are more reality based. Like I do NOT see Poison Ivy, or Mr Freeze making appearances because they are a bit more fantastic.

I had heard Robin Williams had been in talks to be the Riddler for the next one. Which I SO hope for.

As far as Bale and steroids... could explain the rage issues.

But just a devoted personal trainer, and the ability to devote the time the rest of us hold down jobs JUST to working out... the steroids might not have been necessary.

On the Batman/Catwoman meeting? I would guess a media version of a matter/anti-matter reaction as really good movie meets really awful one. :D

Actually I AM a comic geek and I feel that Catwoman should have the whole bodysuit with the kitty ears an integral part. They actually have a sort of kitty ear helmet in the comic as well right now, and I don't like it.  :P

Wasn't there like 6 months between The Machinist and Batman Begins? I would bet on steroids in his case.

As sexy as Halle Berry's outfit is I think she should have left the high heels out from her costume. Same thing with the Transformers movies, why don't they take off their damn heels when they're in something of a war zone!? But... it's like this in loads of movies and it does look sexy.

Adera, i agree, high heels are a lot uncomfortable in some scene, but they are a must, you now......this is what customer wanaa see on a sexy girl whit sexy outfit

well, Janine, i don't usually read Batman comics, but i can understand what u mean......i think it's the influence on japan sentai (Power Rangers & Co). but if you look at "Batman: The Brave and the Bold ", u can see a more classic catwoman, even if her dress isn't so practice for a thief. here u can see two of the last version of her, the second one is from "Batman: The Brave and the Bold "

Her ears look more like a bat's in that first one... I just like Catwoman in a bodysuit really, and I've been reading the Batwoman comics. She's an openly gay super-hero.

well, not so gay, from what i remember......at least, she is attracted from Bats! well, in most of the animated series....dunno in comics!

Batwoman, Kate Kane. Her current story started in Detective Comics, and then did well enough to spin into her own title as part of DC's new 52.

While Catwoman herself has shown no signs I've heard of (besides some REALLY fun fan art of course) she was in a series called "Gotham City Sirens" where they finally had the chemistry between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy addressed when Harley asked Ivy if she loved her... and then betrayed her to run off with Joker. Which SUCKED, but made sense story wise, and it was REALLY nice to see the topic addressed.

And DC acknowledged it, and then had Harley run back to the Joker. Which on the girl's love hand sucks, but makes sense for the character. Harley's messed up in the head, and Ivy is the closest she's had to a healthy relationship. That she would chose the unstable joker makes more sense for her as a character.

As for Robim Williams playing the Riddler. In his prime, yes, now he is just too old.

You make a very good point about his age... BUT I'll say I think he could/can pull it off. What convinces me is that movie (One Hour Photo?) where he plays a psycho. I think he could put the edge in that this series would need in it's Riddler.

I just watched the American version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. It was really good filmatization though I think Noomi Rapace made a better Lisbeth than Rooney Mara.

My big thing in the movies department right now, and on a fairly regular basis are the "found footage" horror movies.

Of course I can't call it a real genre yet because I only know of 4, but I adore those 4.

The Blair Witch Project
Paranormal Activity 1-3

BWP is really good, but PA just takes it to a whole other level. Either way though I adore the feel that they are portraying actual events. For me that is MUCH scarier then some CGI gorefest.
