Title: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)

Just restarting the thread here so we can continue where the original thread leaves off.

Jeri Ryan as Sevin of Nine, she was what made Voyager watchable for most people, male and female alike, I also liked the couple of Episodes of The Sentinel where shes starred as a female sentinel.

She did? That was the show with the guy with the super senses? That actually sounds pretty cool.

Mikki and Janine, your last posts have been in the fav movies. Of course, Voyager was not a movie and we can go on talking here. I just mention this to not confuse the rest of us.

And sinnnn wrote Alf. Aaaaaaaahhh, how could I forget him? I loved Alf and still sometimes watch it when they repeat it. And talking bout Alf another one comes back in my mind.
Married... with children

Yes, but Jeri Ryan does both, and is equally sexy doing so.  ;D Which is how it got there.

I've seen Alf, I think it was on Family Guy... always struck me as kinda creepy. Like a REALLY ugly teddy bear, that could talk, and probably drank.

Today I heared that they gonna make a movie of "The Fall Guy". Every pubescent boy wanted to see Heather Thomas. And we had compassion with Howie. Lee Majors also performed "The Unknown Stuntman", the title songg. Nothing special, but nice to listen.

And for all who know Charlie's Angels, both the movies as well the original series - what do you like more?

Why are they making movies of tv shows.  Really the A-Team sucked.  They keep picking the wrg type of tv show to make a movie off.  Sheech
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on July 03, 2010, 03:51:04 AM
Because it saves them from having to get creative while assuring them an audience. Because yes the A-Team may have sucked (haven't seen either) you DID go. Which is what they were hoping for. The nostalgia audience should at least recoup their costs.

Hell I didn't go.  Wait for that to dvd.  My boyz told me it sucked bad.  They have yet to fail me when it comes to movies.  Besides that "Mr. T" just looked awful.  ;D  I went to see the Last Airbender.  If I had never seen the anime I would have thought it was great.  Its just good/alright.

I dunno, I've been skeptical when I saw M Night Shamalan's (sp?) name on it. The guy's just... weird, and not in the good does his own thing way.  More in the "Thank you for watching the past hour and a half of story, please let me negate it in such a way that let's me feel I'm oh so clever while you feel you wasted your money."

And yes, I heard Mr. T was actually one of those MMA guys in his first acting role.

Lover? Is that supposed to be "Bright" side of life? Or is it from the new musical Idle is putting together, BASED on the Life of Brian movie?

No, it was just a misspelling, thanks for your question. I don't know if he will change the title for the new musicle.

*shrugs* He even came up with new songs for Spamalot while modifying others. Still, it was a lot of fun so I'm more then willing to trust him.

I blocked that an other horrible remakes from my mind.  Its the only way to stay truly sane.

Charmed, Forever Knight,  The Adams Family, Blood Ties, Fantasy, Kindred, The Monkies,Starsky & Hutch, Tales from the Crypt, Ultraviolet (UK 1998),Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, and The Munsters, Surface  .  Dark Shadows, loved the remake, sucked that they never finished it.
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on July 07, 2010, 10:22:56 AM
I never watched the movie, but the guy who was their boss who was on Battlestar Galatica when they put the movie out was approached to do the movie... his response was sending them a video of him not saying a word, just shaking his head... I thought that was hilarious, as well incredibly cool on his part.

Ohhh and I saw some bits and pieces of Forever Knight in syndication. There was another vampire tv show I loved Kindred: The Embraced. It was based of the White Wolf's Vampire the Masquerade RPG and was all about a society of vampires (there were different bloodlines that typified certain beliefs about vampires) that lived by what was called "The Masquerade" which basically meant "The human's don't know were real. Last time they found out the Inquisition happened. So stay hidden or we'll kill you."

It was a really awesome show, but sadly only had one season as the gamers that they were holing would watch were turned off by the fact the same guy who made Beverly Hills 90210 also made Kindred, but I own it on DVD and am very glad I do.

We live in different states babe, so our channels will be different.  So look it up.  LOL.  You know you have the right show if you see the guy from Ferris Brewlers Day Off in it, the nerdy rich friend.

I remember hearing about shows like Dexter edited for broadcast tv... and I remember thinking "Must REALLY be a short show." Yeah, I know Dex is doing more then chopping up bad guys, but part of the show is the horrific things he does. I'm sure you get the idea, but I can't imagine you getting the FEEL.

SG-U 2nd season is "OK", but unless you're a die hard SG fan, such as I, dont sacrifice for it. Firefly... And Farscape... Can anyone say Claudia Black? Mmmmm...

In SG-1 there was Samantha Carter... now she's a hottie... and dont forget Fraya (Tok'ra)...

In other news, what about Arwin... Damn, Liv Tyler is sexy...

And then, there's the beauty from "Sleeping Dictionary", the one and only Jessica Alba. Who hasn't thought about her... ;-)

Dexter never has been my series. Though I thought this suits to me when I have read about before watching it.
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on December 10, 2010, 06:21:11 PM
Very shocking, but I worry slightly that they may have Dex angst a bit. I'm fairly confident, because they seem to keep any angst to roughly an eps length (like with that cop who killed her family Dex got a bit morose, but at the end actually shouted at her he would rather they found out then loose them).

So the elements are there, and I could see SOME, but Dex... angst just doesn't suit a serial killer.

And Lover... it's a dark trip, one heck of a trip, but a dark one. One of the reasons I like it however is because of that darkness. Dexter's dark side may be taking steroids, but we all have our own, and those times I can identify can be both alarming, and revelatory.
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Lover on December 11, 2010, 05:54:33 AM
I don't have a problem with his dark side or with a dark trip. This was the reason I thought I would like it. I don't like slick superstars without any problems, mistakes or knowing everything in every situation.

I like House, Navy CIS, the mentalist, Criminal Intent, Monk, The unknown stuntman (Lee Majors) in the 80s... all heroes with their own problems.
But anyhow Dexter and I didn't come together...
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on December 11, 2010, 09:00:38 AM
Definitely just different tastes, but I think what you might consider flawless I consider proactive. I live my life striving to see problems simply as obstacles that WILL be overcome, rather then just awful things I will endure.

Should I be worried I'm identifying with a serial killer?  ;D
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Bear on December 12, 2010, 04:08:52 AM
hmmm is that to say you are without emotion? :-\  That was his advantage devoid of of an element which contaminates judgment. Methodical and absolute in his adherence to the code.

But that is a good philosophy to live by

but Dexter flawless? ;)

Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on December 12, 2010, 05:29:39 AM
Actually Dex didn't have much emotion, but even early on he showed flickers. Choosing his foster sister who didn't know about his nature over the biological brother who did because he was "fond" of her being a bigger example from season 1.

He is certainly logical though, and can divorce his emotions to take a step back, and weigh a situation. I try to be able to do the same, because I feel it better to look for a solution instead of simply dwell on the problem itself.
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Bear on December 12, 2010, 12:17:22 PM
Same here.

I looked at the brother issue slightly different. Dexter was forced to confront bonding with his brother and shelving the Henry's code...his foster sister representing that tie to Henry's code, the ultimate of sacrifice.

All actions have a cost,...some lesser,..others extreme.

Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on December 12, 2010, 05:51:44 PM
Different takes, but I read more into just the WAY he said the word fond... it was almost as if he surprised himself.

I talk about challenges when others are talking about problems. Used this term here to make it unique for everyone. In TV I like those heroes, that are growing in a specific situation; when they don't give up, face the situation and getting things done. It's a bit like real life.

Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on December 13, 2010, 05:28:57 PM
Hear, hear, though I would say it's more like real life should be. Far too many give up way too easy.
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Lover on December 14, 2010, 04:58:46 AM
Agree Janine, far too many give up.
When I say it's like in real life I talk about "real" heroes. People like you and me -  not giving up, working on themselves to get better, to grow. This is my compare heroes - real life.

It's sad. There are more people giving up, than people which are really failing. And too many people don't wanna take responsibility for their own life.

The words "I can't" truly mean "I won't"...adversity tests and measures us...

If anything or ability to deal with failure, disappointment, loss will impact our future. Live life with your eyes on the road ahead, not on the rear view mirror.
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Lover on December 14, 2010, 12:30:17 PM
It's more "I don't want" You always have the chance to say "I can't for the moment" This is giving you much more power.

Agree. Look ahead. You can't change what has happened but you always can change what's coming next. At least you have the influence.
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Janine Dee on December 14, 2010, 01:23:55 PM
I've been on this soapbox before.  People LOVE their excuses. It's much easier then taking action, then working through and then past the problem.
Title: Re: Favorite TV (remake from Say...)
Post by: Lover on December 14, 2010, 03:45:04 PM
On the left hand they love their excuses. On the right hand they are so caught in this behaviour, they can't behave in another way.
And now the circle is closed: They can, but as they always say "I can't" they get a self-fullfilling prophecy.

They are caught in a double-bind or a catch 22.

And sure, this kind of behaviour is so much easier. "I can't; I don't have the chance; I don't have luck; It's the weather's fault, the neighbour's, my father's one...."

Mystery Science 2000? I've only heard of 3000.

But I also know of the website Rifftrax.com that was set up by the creators after MST3k went big and the owners of the copyrights of the crappy old movies they made fun of started wanting a cut. Now on Rifftrax they watch a movie, record a MP3, and you buy the MP3 and watch the movie on your own.

Much the same effect, but big time titles like Iron Man, Harry Potter, etc.

Since we're on the subject of TV shows, and this one is not a remake, my daughter has gotten me hooked on Rosemay & Thyme.  A British show, that we get here in the US on Public Television.

I've developed a case of the hots for both Mrs. Laura Thyme and Miss Rosemary Boxer.  I'd love to invite those two out to the ranch, but there's only one problem...

Whenever those two ladies show up anywhere... somebody's dead.

Two wonderful ladies... it could be called "Pafe & Sat". Oh there is a difference. People are more alive after meeting them. At least i never have heard Pafe killed someone with her boudoir shoes...

I knew this thread existed!

OK, this weekend I have been watching "Lost Girl" I am up to season 1 episode 8.
To be honest, I only got interested because I found all these Bo & Lauren fan made vids on youtube.
It is made in Canada. The main character is Bo she is a 28 yr old female who isn't  human. It seems there is a hidden world out there of the Fae. Most of our fairy tales and legends come to life.
Bo is a succubus with the ability to seduce any human and can kill them by "feeding" off their life force.  Problem is in the pilot episode, Bo doesn't know any of this (about the Fae world) , she thinks she is just some kind of freak or monster.
She also has wolverine type healing abilities, BUT only while making love. Dyson, the werewolf, is more than happy to help her heal on many occasions nudge nudge wink wink  ;)

Our young Heroine though is bisexual in nature and is finding herself emotinally attracted to the human doctor, Lauren. But healing with Lauren would probably kill the blonde doctor.
The first 5 minutes of season 1 ep 8 is quite steamy . Sorry I can't find any youtube post of just that scene.

The writing so far is Blah, the acting is meh. But it's season 1 many shows are just finding their way in the first season, and they are up to season 5. So I will slog through it.  ;D

It's an interesting series...Lost Girl...

Hooked on the Originals... vamps, werewolves and witches ... nothing cute  and fuzzy about any of them. My all fav though is Black List. That show has kept me stumped over and over in it's plot twists. What seems obvious is exactly wrong.

We turned a corner. It was very good. the acting is still meh, but the writing is pulling together
