Here's a question I've pondered for many, many years. I've asked numerous people, from engineers to kids, and haven't gotten any satisfactory answers.
Where do Tires go?
I'm not talking about the tires you take off your car and throw away… we all know what happens to those.
I'm asking about the tread of the tire. The tread eventually wears down and you have bald tires. Where does that go? It can't be dust, because you would see tire dust along side the roads… and by now, a century later, there would be piles of the stuff.
It can't be integrated into the road surface, otherwise our roads would get thicker instead of thinner.
I only know one thing, the company that i work for also clean roads like this.
It's a combination of high pressure water injection, suction and sweeping, and when the truck are full you would not believe how dirty the stuff is that came out.
