bobby: Watchmen might not have been a simple raw action movie with a standard hollywood script, if that's what you expected. The characters, the setting, the way most of their super powers weren't all that super and their human flaws were so plentiful is what did that movie great for me. A dark, cynical take on the whole super hero thing was long overdue and in my book, this movie delivered.
As you listed both Blade Runner and Dark City you're still on my good side, though.

Watchmen is in my collection.  So is Sin City, The Spirit(was all that great but entertaining), 300, All the batmans(ALL of them), Spiderman, Wolverine Origin(love Gambit), Kill Bill, Vampire Hunter D, Ghost in the Shell, Legend(tom cruise), Never Ending Story, Princess Bride, and some really unque martial arts(love the subtitles soo much better than eng dubbed).

I won't say light and fluffy or dark and cynical… I own Daredevil… it wasn't great, but when I really fell in love with the movie was after the big fight in the bar when Murdock is taking a shower, and spits out a tooth, and then has to sleep in a sensory deprivation chamber because otherwise his super senses would pick up everything.

That's a real person who happens to have super powers. I LOVED that… there was a real guy underneath the costume, and his mortality wasn't just at properly scripted moments of drama, but integral to the character himself.

I have Daredevil too…both versions actually.  I have the Director's Cut for the extended scenes.  I know the movie was pretty much universally trashed, but I didn't think it was that bad.  Jennifer Garner as Elektra (after spending so much time on Alias)…perfect.
And the battle with Bullseye in the church was cool after he figured out what banging those pipes did to DD…as was the fight with the Kingpin when the water system burst.  Overall I enjoyed the movie a lot.

A hint to my link of “Law Abiding Citizen”.
Don't read the last passages of the plot. Watch the movie without knowing the end. It's better.

    WAY too late

I should note with mine, it's almost more comedic. Or more to say there are a lot of comedic moments.

I posted it because while I try to back up my movie recommendations with concrete reasons why… Ordinary Decent Criminal is just a really good movie.

I did Lover and talk about revenge kill.  Thats one guy I would never want to piss off.  I'm going to use the scene where he tourtured the guy in the warehouse for when my daughters future dates(when she is old enough to date, when hell freezes over) and tell them thats there future if they don't treat her like the Queen she is.

    Loved it.

Western World and Futureworld have been great movies at their time. Peter Fonda and Yul Brynner – fantastic.

Pulp Fiction is another vessel for Samuel Jackson's awesomeness… I'm considering From Paris with Love because not all movies NEED be Oscar contenders… and that sounds like good shoot em up fun.
