Well, if it comes to hydraulics (job title, isn't it?)  I'd name Mother Nature at first place.
And yes, I do love her. She's so inventive that you hardly find any technical invention she did not establish before. Except for wheels probably. But this may only be because legs are so much more useful to climb stairs and thighs are much sexier than rims.

As far as hydraulic goes she invented a perfect system (Figure 1)  with almost no leakage.
Well, on certain occasions it leaks quite substantially but this is no bug but a feature
