        Kevin Conroy – RIP.

Kevin Conroy, best known for voicing Batman on Warner Bros.’ long-running TV show “Batman: The Animated Series,” has died after a short battle with cancer. He was 66.

“Batman: The Animated Series” originally aired for 85 episodes on Fox Kids from 1992-1995. Conroy’s deep, gravelly Batman voice was widely acclaimed by critics and comic book fans, with many regarding the actor as the definitive Caped Crusader. The series also featured Mark Hamill’s memorable performance as the Joker.

He also played an elderly Bruce Wayne in “Crisis in Infinite Earth Part 2” in 2020.

Conroy was so beloved for his Batman voice role that he continued with the character in various other DC projects, including the “Batman: Arkham” and “Injustice” video games franchises. He also appeared in various DC Universe Animated Original Movies, including “Batman: Gotham Knight” (2008), “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies” (2009), “Justice League: Doom” (2012), “Batman: The Killing Joke” (2016) and “Justice League vs. the Fatal Five” (2019), among other films. The 2019 “Justice League” animated film is Conroy’s last credited feature as Batman, and his most recent video game credit as Batman is Warner Bros.’ “MultiVersus” from earlier this year.

In the live-action space, Conroy made his feature film acting debut in 1992 romance drama “Chain of Desire,” written and directed by Temístocles López. He also starred in a recurring role on the NBC soap opera “Another World” and appeared in episodes of classic series such as “Dallas,” “Murphy Brown,” and “Cheers.”

Conroy’s voice acting was not limited to Batman. He also lendt his talents to franchises such as “Scooby-Doo” (he had a voice role on the 2019 series “Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?”) and “Masters of the Universe.” In the latter franchise, he appeared on episodes of Netflix’s “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” (playing Mer-Man in 2021) and “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” (playing Hordak earlier this year).

Conroy most recently wrote “Finding Batman,” which was showcased as part of DC Pride 2022 earlier this year. Conroy was openly gay, making him the only openly gay actor to portray Batman. “Finding Batman” recounted the actor’s experience playing the Caped Crusader while also coming to terms with his own sexuality.

Conroy was born in Nov. 1955 in Westbury, N.Y., and studied acting under John Houseman at The Julliard School alongside the likes of Christopher Reeve, Frances Conroy and Robin Williams. He is survived by his husband Vaughn C. Williams, sister Trisha Conroy and brother Tom Conroy.

Christine McVie, the longtime co-lead vocalist, keyboardist, and songwriter for Fleetwood Mac, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the age of 79. A cause of death was not available, but McVie’s family said she died at a hospital “following a short illness.”

The band confirmed McVie’s death in a note shared on social media. “There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie. She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with her. Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed.”

On a personal note I have been a huge fan of FM and saw them live in concert many times, including the days when they were not headlining. I thank her for the music and for the joy. May she rest in peace. Fly free…

Last surviving Dambuster Johnny Johnson has died on 7 December 2022

The last survivor of the World War Two Dambusters has died aged 101.
Sq Ldr George “Johnny” Johnson, was a bomb-aimer in the 617 Squadron, which destroyed key dams in Germany during the war.

His family said he died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday.

Celebrating his 100th birthday in November last year, Mr Johnson told the BBC: “I’ve had a very lucky life in every respect.”

He was born in Lincolnshire and lived in Bristol, and was just 21 when he took part in the 1943 operation, which involved experimental bouncing bombs that were targeted at dams in the Ruhr Valley, releasing huge quantities of water into areas used by Germany for war production.

Mr Johnson was made an MBE in 2017 after a long-running campaign

It was Mr Johnson’s job to target the Sorpe Dam as part of the attack, which was codenamed Operation Chastise and carried out by the RAF’s 617 Squadron, based at RAF Scampton.
It was one of the most dangerous air operations of the war, with 53 men killed and three captured.

Sgt George Johnson (extreme left) was part of 617 Squadron based at Scampton, Lincolnshire

In the last few years of his life Mr Johnson, who lived in Westbury-on-Trym in north Bristol, was involved in charity work and made many public appearances.

In 2019, he had an inter-city train named after him and was also given an honorary doctorate by the University of Lincoln in 2017.

After 22 years of service in the air force, he worked as a teacher in Newark in Nottinghamshire.
He and his wife Gwyn later moved to Devon, where he became a Conservative councillor.

Thank You for your Service. RIP.

‘tWitch’ Boss who died from suicide earlier this week. He was an amazing person. Happily wed with 3 great kids. He will be mourned by many. I will miss seeing him dance. May he rest in peace.

It doesn’t always look like darkness
                Disheveled
                Discombobulated
                Sometimes it looks like dance
                Like joy
                Like syncopated rhythms
                Like grace
                Like choreography channelling
                Ancestor’s dreams
                Powerful
                Successful
                Enviable
                Sometimes we get so good
                At the act
                At the entertainment
                At wearing the mask
                That we can fool ourselves
                A little bit
                Long enough for the public
                To believe
                That we
                Have it all together
                That the airbrush portrait
                Is real
                The Instagram smile
                Is permanent
                The the steps aren’t automatic
                That happiness 24/7 isn’t toxic
                But the truth is
                Living is hard
                Lonely is real
Grief is too heavy to hold
                People don’t check
                On the strong friends
                The smiling friends
                The dancing friends
                The friends who look like
They are on top of the world
                Looks are often liars
                Hopelessness can grow
Like weeds in the most beautiful
                Garden
                It doesn’t always look like
                Darkness
And it’s so hard to say the words
                Out loud
                “I need help
                This is too much
I don’t want to try anymore”
                Because we clap for stunning
                Clap for the performance
                And ignore those in pain
It doesn’t always look like darkness
                Sometimes it just looks like
                Our reflection
                In the Mirror
                Sometimes it’s just too hard
                To stay in the light
If life feels like it is too much
                to take one more step
let someone hold your hand while you walk
                You aren’t alone
                You aren’t the only one
                I’ve had those thoughts too
                You are not alone
                I promise

Known for his dour image and sharp wit, the singer found fame in the 1970s and 80s with hits like Ghost Town, Gangsters and Too Much Too Young.
He left The Specials in 1981 to form Fun Boy Three with fellow-bandmates Neville Staple and Lynval Golding, scoring another run of hits.
The singer died after a brief illness, The Specials said in a statement.
“Terry was a wonderful husband and father and one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine of souls,” they wrote.

Legendary rock guitarist Jeff Beck dies aged 78 on 10 January 2023, East Sussex

Beck rose to fame with the Yardbirds before fronting the Jeff Beck Group and making forays into the jazz-fusion sound he pioneered

Jeff Beck, the celebrated guitarist who played with the Yardbirds and led the Jeff Beck Group, has died aged 78, his representative has confirmed.

Beck died on Tuesday after “suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis”, the representative confirmed. “His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss,” they added.

Often described as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Beck – whose fingers and thumbs were famously insured for £7m – was known as a keen innovator. He pioneered jazz-rock, experimented with fuzz and distortion effects and paved the way for heavier subgenres such as psych rock and heavy metal over the course of his career. He was an eight-time Grammy winner, recipient of the Ivor Novello for outstanding contribution to British music and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame both as a solo artist and as a member of the Yardbirds.

Musicians and longtime friends began paying tribute minutes after the news broke. On Twitter, Jimmy Page wrote, “The six stringed Warrior is no longer here for us to admire the spell he could weave around our mortal emotions. Jeff could channel music from the ethereal. His technique unique. His imaginations apparently limitless. Jeff I will miss you along with your millions of fans.”

“With the death of Jeff Beck we have lost a wonderful man and one of the greatest guitar players in the world,” Mick Jagger wrote. “We will all miss him so much.”

Rod Stewart, who toured with the Jeff Beck Group in the late 60s, called him “one of the few guitarists that when playing live would actually listen to me sing and respond … you were the greatest, my man. Thank you for everything.”

Lisa Marie Presley ~ Lights Out

And in her final Instagram post before her death, the “Lights Out” singer talked about life after her son Benjamin Keough’s tragic death.

Keough died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 27 on July 12, 2020, at his home in Calabasas, Calif.

Marking “National Grief Awareness Day” in August, the singer wrote an essay for People magazine about the overwhelming grief she continues to feel over her son’s sudden death.

“Today is National Grief Awareness Day, and since I have been living in the horrific reality of its unrelenting grips since my son’s death two years ago, I thought I would share a few things to be aware of in regard to grief for anyone who is interested,” she wrote to her 583,000 followers. “If not to help yourself but maybe to help another who is grieving.”

Presley said she found that “grief does not stop or go away in any sense.”

“Grief is something you will have to carry with you for the rest of your life, in spite of what certain people or our culture wants us to believe. You do not ‘get over it,’ you do not ‘move on,’ period.”

She admitted to feeling “judged and blamed” for her son’s death.

“I already battle with and beat myself up tirelessly and chronically, blaming myself every single day and that’s hard enough to now live with, but others will judge and blame you too, even secretly or behind your back which is even more cruel and painful on top of everything else,” she wrote.

Presley said the lives of her three daughters, in addition to hers, were “completely detonated and destroyed” by Benjamin’s death.

“Nothing, absolutely NOTHING takes away the pain, but finding support can sometimes help you feel a little bit less alone,” she wrote.

“It’s a real choice to keep going, one that I have to make every single day and one that is constantly challenging to say the least… But I keep going for my girls,” she added.

Three months after his passing, Benjamin was laid to rest at Graceland beside his grandfather and several other family members.
