I don’t know if anyone else is having this problem, but I spent the A$900 for the new room and CANNOT USE IT!
People that invite me, it loads THEIR room….When I invite, I get “AChat has stopped working” Windows error. Have tried restarting, still get the error. If I can’t use something I paid A$900 for, most places I could get a refund….
Anyone else having crashes or problems?
December 11, 2010 at 4:35 pm #46077I played with someone who had it last night, and it did seem choppy at times like the processor was having trouble running it all… like lag.
December 11, 2010 at 4:39 pm #46078Well, I tried uninstalling and re-installing and even adding the high detail (and btw, the “full install” is missing 48 updates)
The ROOM is causing the crash. I invite someone and 3 seconds into load (after the positions are visible), it freezes, locks up and says “Achat.exe has stopped working” and then asks me to close the program. So I changed to an old free room, invited, and it WORKED FLAWLESSLY
So I spent A$900 on something I can never use (at least without an update?)
I am soooooo mad right now
December 11, 2010 at 10:14 pm #46079Well, here is another idea. It could be your computer, your operating system, your lack of proper hardware, or even corrupted sectors on your hard drive. The reason I am saying this, is because I have the new room, and have used it flawlessly with multiple partners since it came out, with NO problems.
So, I think it's just you…December 11, 2010 at 10:27 pm #46080First response I can make is that the inviter usually dictates which room is used…that is why it didn't pull up when you were invited.
Curious about the issues though,…be awhile before I can check it out and give an opinion.
December 12, 2010 at 3:45 am #46081I have 2 computers, both running Windows 7 Home Premium. It crashes on both computers. Granted, one is a netbook, but the other is a tower with 3GB RAM and an ATI video card with the correct video drivers. The fact that the same error comes up on both like clockwork makes me think it is not a hardware issue.

Hi,
did you contact the support?

tomDecember 12, 2010 at 9:30 am #46086Ahh,…did not mention checking this so I ask…did you confirm compatibility on the achat icon?
Windows 7 does give you option to run the compatibility mode as XP,..that typically takes care of the issues.
The program just runs better under that settinglol,..Tom you beat me to that question,..the obvious about support.
@bobbler I think that's a residue echo we are hearing…
December 12, 2010 at 10:53 am #46087AChat will be tested with XP, Vista and Win7, all they should work without problems. AChat doesn't need any compatibility mode under Win7 or Vista, but of course should run using compatibility mode also.
Could you please send us the file startlog.txt from the AChat directory, so that we can check if there is any additional info about the crash?

tomDecember 12, 2010 at 3:37 pm #46088The new room works flawlessly for me in Windows 7. I tried it with the Robot and everything works fine, no lag either for me.
December 12, 2010 at 3:53 pm #46089OK, thank you, it works on most of the computers, we have checked on all our computers.
Please answer only who has problems.
tomDecember 13, 2010 at 12:00 am #46090Problems seems excessive, at one point the actions were noticeably choppy, but that could have just as easily been server lag.
