Oh – well, you have to follow your passions and your interests, but I hope she doesn't focus entirely on one and not the other…  a lot of the best scientists are often very literate and good writers too – especially those that are good at explaining their ideas to a lay readership.

Lots of angels and other things in the clouds in this video…

And getting back to poetry…  Amethyst's daughter's lovely poem got me thinking all things clouds, and this one popped into my head…  suitable for springtime too…

I WANDERED lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
              A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
              They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:                                  10
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
              In such a jocund company:
              I gazed–and gazed–but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,                              20
They flash upon that inward eye
              Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
              And dances with the daffodils.

                            William Wordsworth

Just me trying out some thoughts

I did not dare to say goodbye
    Because saying goodbye really hurts
I did not want leave you
But just needed time to be alone
To think about it, to find out and refuel
Discover whether I still love you

While I was thinking about you
    I still left you alone
I had no need for another
But I just wanted some space
To think about it, to find out and refuel
Discover whether I still love you

I  tried all to forget about you
Been everywhere and I talked to everyone
Never accepted that what I always have know
    I love you the most,
    I can not avoid it
    Without you I'm alone

I want to be with you day and night
I have now lost all doubts
I stayed away a little longer
But I used all that time
To think about it, to find out and refuel
Discover how much I  love you

I  tried all to forget about you
Been everywhere and I talked to everyone
Never accepted that what I always have know
    I love you the most,
    I can not avoid it
    Without you I'm alone
I did not wanted leave you
I do not get on the run
    The only thing I needed
    was some fresh air

to make Brandy happy i add another one

    Friendship

As a child I had a friend, together we did everything
When he began to fight, I fought along with him
When I jumped into the water, he dived in right behind me
A more beautiful friendship could not exist in my eyes
Until he moved to another city
If I remember correctly he only send me one postcard since then

    Once you draw the conclusion
    Friendship is an illusion
    Friendship is a dream
A littlebit of love, surrounded by steam

Later on I got a girlfriend, together we did everything
When she started kissing, I made love with her
When I started to cry, she came to  hug me
A more beautiful friendship could not exist in my eyes
Until the moment they spontaneously forgot my name
And it turned out that she had another boyfriend

    Once you draw the conclusion
    Friendship is an illusion
    Friendship is a dream
A littlebit of love, surrounded by steam

    When it comes to money
    When it comes to women
When it comes to everything you love
    Who can you really trust?

    Once you draw the conclusion
    Friendship is an illusion
    Friendship is a dream
A littlebit of love, surrounded by steam

Ahh, mrsexlover, this one is more depressing!  Bittersweet tragedy!

I don't think it's as good as the previous one, because I don't think it comes from the heart in the same way – or to put it another way, I don't think you really believe your own conclusion – or do you?

    Goodbye my friend

It was twenty years ago, when we have met at work. From the first moment, we have been friends.
You, a few years older older, more experienced and talkative and I, the younger one, also talkative and still learning.
We both were alpha-guys. But we never argued. We discussed, we talked and in the end, we laughed together.

We liked the same things, we shared the same sense of humour and we both loved new, modern technology.
We shared the room when we were on a trip with other guys, going to bed last and getting up first.
We discovered some cities in Europe and had fun, wherever we have been. We always did the best of everything.

When I'm at work, I still see you sitting on your chair. But you don't talk anymore. We cannot work together anymore.
We won't go out and have fun anymore, though our next trip already was planned. You are on your own journey now.
You didn't suffer. The death came suddenly and fast. That's the only comfort I have.

Memories will stay forever. Memories – that's all I still have now. You are gone. You have left this planet, unexpected and much too soon.
We couldn't say bye – our last words have been “See you, enjoy your day”.

For a last time I will walk at your side. And it's so different.
You are gone – but in my heart, you always will stay.
