    Welcome furcon,

do you launch AChat for the first time or did it happen after the last update?

    The standard procedure:
Check your firewalls, your antivirus-program and your internet connection.

Your notebook should be able to work with AChat.

Delete your existing version, download the new version and install again.

Did you try the High-Detail or the “normal” version? I've read there have been some problems with the high-detailed one.

Apollo (another member) posted this in another thread:
I have a feeling the issue is NETBOOKS. However, I did find the best way to make it work.

First, uninstall ALL of AChat (For Windows 7, AFTER the uninstall finishes, go to C:UsersOwnerAppDataLocal and delete the AChat folder where Owner is your log in for Windows 7)

Download the FULL installer (or if you still have it run it!) DO NOT INSTALL THE HIGH DETAIL VERSION (at least on a netbook).

After the install completes, UNCHECK the “Launch AChat” box.

Go to C:UsersOwnerAppDataLocalAChat and right click on the achat.exe file and click properties.

On the COMPATABILITY TAB, set it for XP SP3 and RUN AS ADMIN settings

Since doing this, the new room has worked fine for me

Achat should work with Windows 7 without problems, at least we don't have problems with it.
(High detail installs only texture and music files, should not cause problems at all…)

Furcon! One question: do you have in the directory 'upgrade_dir' the file versioninfo.bin ?
According to the log AChat cannot open this file.

How do you start AChat? Is the icon on your desktop?

    Regards,
    tom

try opening the achat folder and running the version updater. right click achat on desktop or wherever it is and open file location… versionupdater.exe should be in that folder
