Water from Addicks Reservoir flows into neighborhoods west of HoustonThis song goes out to all those affected by hurricane Harvey, myself very much included. Being from the mountains of northern Cali i have never witnessed such a force. An anger in its thunder, a scream in its wind and a foreboding in its pounding rain. Water everywhere, no where left to go… and it continues to rain.
We decided to make our escape very early Monday morning after seeing no good news in the short range forecast. The dams and levees already max'd out and potentially more than another 10″ during the week as Harvey lingers. If they were to breach or the Corp of Engineers decide to open them up to prevent that from happening our home certainly becomes a swimming pool and we become prisoners of our 2nd story at best. It took us practically all day but we made it to a safer place.
I look upon the news today and thank GOD we left when we did. I PRAY for those who were not so fortunate, for those that have already lost so much and for those who still will. It is going to be a long time before there is any sense of normal in Houston. We are one of the lucky ones.
