Football is our national sport and as hosts of the Olympics this time round Football is of course on the agenda … yay
It is a little strange though for us …. we compete as Great Britain in the olympics and therefore, have a united team of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland athletes and gamesmen and women.
As we usually compete as individual nations in football, and therefore do not compete in the olympic football games normally, this has caused some issues & headaches in the oylmpic politics and football associations. Anyway the upshot is … a new football team of Great Britain will be created.. involving footballers from all the relevant nations … Looks like I will be cheering for Great Britain in football this time round … and it will be interesting to see how the team gels & if we are worthy competitors.Of course, this is for the London Olympics only, a one off … it will be back to normal in the other tournaments
