That get's tot he heart of perhaps the one thing I would hope everyone could take from this thread… that the reality is going to be far different from any fantasy the person held.

Some thoughts I had on training as I re-read this.

First is that a great deal of instruction whether it be for Dominants or submissives is done more often in a one on one sort of format. The reason for that is more practical then anything as those first steps are often very nerve-wracking, and done easier with only one other person present, but there is  also the simple truth that there can be a great many concerns that make a large house like in The Story of O impractical. (The sad truth is that a great many locations have laws that make consenting BDSM illegal despite that consent,)

Secondly is that the training is only the beginning. While to this day I have always felt my initial instruction was excellent even as it was happening it was my growth as I had those experiences that helped make me into the Domme I am today. christinak's sharing of her discovery of her nature as a switch is an excellent example.

Perhaps a good way to think of training is like when you learn to walk, or ride a bike. Most of the time you'll have someone there to encourage you on, and catch you if you stumble, but ultimately you are the one who gets moving, and keeps moving.

Thirdly is that you will have those elitist types who feel that the way they were trained is the only “real” way someone should be trained. They can be safely ignored, or maybe even directed to someone who holds the opposing viewpoint so you can watch them rip each other apart.  ;)

Brandy dear, in BDSM, when practiced in a healthy fashion (NOT like the topic we had been discussing) they ARE equals, and the submissive CHOOSES to submit, desires it, craves it. 99% of the time I am 100% authoritative, and in control, but you put me in a room with Sinnnn and I want nothing more then to follow her every command.

But when we are having normal conversations I can comfort her when she's stressed, and we can disagree without it being taken as anything other then differing opinions.

There is nothing inherently good or bad in it except for the shame that society forcibly attaches to it, but as long as it practiced in that healthy fashion it is only cosmetically different from any other relationship.

There is no definite about how to approach anyone about anything sexually.  ;)

              Two major pointers though.

-“Can I watch?” Is a real life cliche. The biggest problem with it is that those usually asking seem to think it more live action porn then two people (who happen to both be women) being INTIMATE. So the approach had best take into account both women are sharing something special, and you need to respect that. The freewheeling nature of AChat helps, but it's like an infinitely more complex normal approach, if you are not respectful, you are likely to fail.

-The idea that they will just watch isn't a trusted one. Sure the guy may swear it up and down, on both parent's graves, but once things get going the expectation will be that the guy will start wanting to join. Try to give them a reason to trust you, I honestly can't say what that would be as trust is a highly individual thing.

Most importantly, don't push, any discomfort on their part is going to be a mood killer whether it be in chat in advance or in the room as it happens.

                My objections are threefold.

The first would be practicality. I mean a tat can get removed, or covered up, or such if feelings change. Removing part of the body is something that goes so far beyond that to me that you almost can't put them in the same category.

Let alone having it something so very vital… it's the kind of forever that most could never conceive, and yet it's the kind of forever that the submissive would have to endure.

Secondly as a woman I just see the third world brutality the term “female castration” conjures up for me, and while I actively strive not the be the bitchy type that throws around the term misogyny lightly, I can't find any other term that would fit. He's literally making her nothing but a instrument for his pleasure, and that's the kind of behavior that I had hoped the majority of the male population has evolved past.

Finally as a Domme taking away a submissives ability to feel pleasure is disgusting to me. To make it only about your enjoyment is to profane at least my definition of what a Dominant should be.

Thank you for adding this Bear. For things to work well they have to be worked on from both (all?) sides. Of course that's as true with vanilla relationships, but when you add in the elements we put in with BDSM it becomes all the more vital.

Umm okay maybe showing either super-geek or super-patriot, but I know here in the US the rules Congress passed state that only uniformed personnel can wear the US flag. That is the actual US flag, the Stars and Stripesaren't so restricted, but out of curiosity, and semi-on topic, do other Countries have similar rules?

Actually Lover that IS a very good point. When licking pussy you most often use your fingers too… have to kick around ideas for a new pose involving just that.

Agreed, would love to lick my way up and down her spots.

The fact that she had a same sex kiss on the ep “Rejoined” just icing on an already amazing cake

I will say that my personal favorite was Deep Space Nine because it touched on a great many topics that the rest of the Trek universe basically held as taboo.

-Religion- With Sisko the Emissary of the Prophets they had a Starfleet officer a Moses of the Bajoran religion, and while his reaction started as the typical Federation reaction to religious belief (condescending acceptance) that the end of the series had him staying with the Prophets to be instructed showed an amazing journey of the soul that Star Trek until then didn't seem to believe in.

-War- In Star Trek was was basically either flashy effects laden battles with consoles that had a disturbing lack of safety features, or refugee camps that our Starfleet officers were beaming down to. In DS9 they started with the ending of the occupation of Bajor and had the HUGE Dominion war, and there friend and foe became blurred, and the realities of war became more more multidimensional.

-Authority- While there was SOME rebellion against authority in other Treks they were typically rebelling against this corrupt offical or that pig-headed superior, but were diligently loyal to the Federation as a whole. In DS9 they often brought the entire Federation into question, right from the beginning really since the peace treaty that led to the Cardassian's pulling out of Bajor still had a LOT of bad feelings on both sides.

-Multiculturalism- In Most Trek's the Federation is seen as the ideal, and other cultures are measured by how Federation-like they are. While I touched on it a bit in religion the space station DS9 was by it's nature more of a melting pot of cultures rather then the Starfleet vessels which are by their nature a singular culture.

On DS9 things like Klingon mating were shown, and Ferengi greed were explored byond the simple sterotypes they were held to in the other series, but also humanity was shown to not always be the shining creature that other Trek series seemed to make them out to be.

While other series tried to show it (like Q putting humanity on trial on the very first TNG) I think DS9 did it better.

So that's why it's my favorite Trek to date.
