We think you can do it.Haiku – This ancient form of poem writing is renowned for its small size as well as the precise punctuation and syllables needed on its three lines. It is of ancient Japanese origin.
It contains 17 syllables in 3 lines of five, seven, five. Haiku poems are typically about nature and usually about a specific season.Syllable – a unit of pronunciation having one vowel sound, with or without surrounding consonants, forming the whole or a part of a word; for example, there are two syllables in water and three in inferno.
Still not sure – when you say a word, usually when your mouth or tongue moves to a different shape … that's the next syllable.
There are 3 syllables in the word “syllable”, 2 in “fire” , 1 in “wood”Got it? Fantastic.
Now you can write your Haiku –
Total 3 lines 17 syllables,
line 1 has to have 5 syllables,
line 2 has to have 7 syllables and
line 3 has to have 5 syllables. Each person can enter up to a maximum of 2 Haiku poems. They do not have to rhyme.
