For as long as I can remember I've been listening to Sandy's voice and music, from long before I had any idea who she was – possibly one of the most highly regarded British Folk singers ever.
From Mum & Dad dragging me round the annual Cropredy Festival (“Home” event for the band Sandy is most widely associated with – Fairport Convention) since I was old enough to walk, to developing my own appreciation and love for music of all types, one thing has always awed and amazed me…the genuine love and appreciation felt for her even though she's been gone for four decades. Nowhere is this more apparent than at 'Fairport's Cropredy Convention' where every year she is remembered and honoured by not only those that worked with her and knew her, but by generations of music lovers who attend the festival. Many returning year after year, as have my family, to bask in some great music (and quite often the August sunshine) and to remember a lady who passed long before I was even born, but who left some wonderful music that I still love and listen to.SoniaslutParticipantThe Chimney-Sweeper

Now we have 'Red Khan', as Leader Of The House Jacob Rees-Mogg calls him.
The Mayor (which is itself a very ancient, historical post) of the U.K's capital has had the wonderful idea of “erasing” much of the historic street names and landmarks in London as part of his Diversity Commission's review of the city's statues, street names, memorials and building names.
I'm a great believer and supporter of diversity and welcome any efforts to encourage it.
But why, instead of doing away with reminders of the city and indeed the nation's history, has the plonker not thought of maybe new statues, naming new buildings and the streets/roads that come with new development for his plan to draw attention to diversity?How VERY dare you, Khan, is all I have to say.
