Did you ever get a reply from the moderators on the idea?
I've been going through some older posts and did find some threads about the subject, i could have done that before.TightFit74ParticipantLover, in a way, according to me, you said it correctly. A non-prem should be allowed to enter a room. By the one that opened it. And I do agree that should be a prem option only… Non-prems will get their fill in a the 'lobby' I should think. You could tell from what happened in the general chat room.
One more thing though, a comment from the moderator was that the other 3 rooms were hardly used. But if you add an application/addition to the program unannounced, with no explanations how it works and what the feature are, then you shouldn't be surprised that people have to figure out how it works. I'm convinced that in due time, all chatrooms would have filled up…September 30, 2010 at 2:44 pm in reply to: Female Impostors. Male Imposters. Getting quite paranoid when getting a pm from a girl (supposedly or real) these days… Keep wondering all the time: is it a guy on the other side? :
TightFit74ParticipantWhat makes me laugh is: “Wanna fuck for a$? I'll make your dreams come true…”. How come people think I would pay for having virtual sex? And what makes them think I don't ask for a$? lol
TightFit74ParticipantHi Bobbler,
ever tried letting the timer run out and then sent an invite back? But as soon as you get in a room, leave? Never doe it myself, but it might be an option…TightFit74ParticipantI think that always a form of politeness is found amongst the people that survive a community. As it is with all laws, you have the 'freedom' to neglect them. As long as you can handle the consequences when caught. You can drive faster than the speed limit, it is an option. But don't be surprised to get a fine and accept it without complaining. In all types of groups, societies or communities. rules of how to deal with eachother emerge. Wether it is insitgated by nature or by agreeing on rules together, somehow it always happen.
If you look at what happened in the general chat ( a much discussed subject), there were a lot of complaints about abuse, using bad language and simply rude people. After a few days you could see a change start to happen as spammers and rude people got a piece of their own. Dissed by people who are serious about the game and want to have a good time. The community started forming rules on how to behave amongst eachother. Too bad it didn't get a chance to develop these rules further.
Still, it isn't easy to have a set of rules of how to communicate with eachother as long as there are no consequences to bare when neglecting these rules. It's even more difficult to hold someone responsible if there are no rules at all. For that matter, AChat leaves it up to the community to form their own rules. So appareantly it depends on how you handle rude people, fakes and spammers. I can't find a guideline from AChat on which I can base a request to ban someone for instyance. What is acceptable and what isn't? As long as noone (with the power to) sets the rules, there is not much you can do against fakes, spammers and rude peopleSeptember 27, 2010 at 7:09 pm in reply to: Female Impostors. Male Imposters. It has nthing to do with becoming gay or anything. I think that, even in a game, sex is intimate and you show a volnurable side of yourself. you put your trust in someone. If that trust is betrayed, it doesn't feel really great.
And as for guys using female avatars… The only reason I can think of why they would do that, is they want to know the actions the woman is able to do in a position. After all, you can only see your own actions while playing…TightFit74ParticipantSwimwear required! (nice chance to design some new clothing, for the gus too!)
TightFit74Participantas a guy it is sometimes hard to imagine what women have to put up with when online. I have a few friends that have told me what the general first line is and it shocks me sometimes. Maybe I've been raised old-fashioned, but I have learned to talk to poeple in a polite, normal way. And I have learned it brings a lot more than being rude and putting women down.
I pitty the men that think this is a game where you pick up a whore and have your way with her. Just as much as men there are women online that want to have fun, but with respect. Except for the occasional exception, I am sure that no man would accept being talked to as if they are for sale.
If you found eachother in a rp, or some other connection, if there is a reason for it, by all means, say what you want. But rudeness is polluting the world and we should start seeing it.TightFit74ParticipantI would like to see it as a perk for premium members to be able to open chat rooms and be able to invite anyone to it. And I would pay a higher membership fee for it instead of paying $A everytime I open a chatroom. It should be freely usuable. And it would be nice if the chat rooms had no limits as far as numbers of people entering.
The advantage of premium members opening their own chatroom, is that you have a moderator (the one that opens the room) to control what happens inside. Conversations will be 'confined'to the circle that are discussing a subject while “general chat” remains open as a lobby for people to meet. Including the ones that have a two word vocabularyTightFit74ParticipantJanine, I love your idea. I think that would be a great addition to the chat. Pay attention moderators!
TightFit74ParticipantI'm dutch, it's in my blood to complain. Especially about something I pay for…lol But usually it's a good sign of someone dutch complains. At least he/she thinks there is something worth complaining about…lol (look at it as an incentive to do better…)
But I do want to express that the chatroom was a positive addition to the program, although the right form might take some time to discover. I assume the moderators are reading what's in the forum and will take our wishes, comments and reasoning into account while creating the new chat (if I'm wrong, just let me know, Tom). I wish them good luck and hope they will have the wisdom to know you can't please everyone…TightFit74ParticipantJanine,
I know it could be a technical problem.I also had problems staying connected to Achat. If it was, they should fix it right before puttig it back on. But I would like it if someone would tell us what the reason is. So far they have been very vague about it. It would take a lot of guessing away..
TightFit74ParticipantI agree with most of the posts that are in this thread. I do want to add a comment. And that is how the moderators communicate to the players. Without “warning” they opened general chat and then closed it again. Just leaving a message that all messages would be personal from that time on. I'm happy if they closed general chat to improve it and I trust they will. They can't deny the requests for a different way of communicating then just pm.
I would stress the moderators to put a bit more effort in delivering the message. I have learned there are a lot of smart, intelligent and nice people on the site and I feel that if the moderaros would explain more, it would be a lot easier for us to understand and accept. I really liked mingling with everyone in general chat, made a few friendsand had a lot of laughs. I hope they will do their best and coe up with an improved version soonTightFit74ParticipantI agree with Garryz. It's like giving a toy to a child and then taking it back before it learns how to play with it, because it makes a mess in the room. There was a lot of interaction between people from all over the world, yes spam and nonsense as well, But also frinedly, helping, kind words. I think people who would never have met, met on the chat and became friends.
So it does have it's benefits. I call upon the moderators to rethink their decision and leave it to the community to decide what's useful or not. Find ways to deal with our wants. Isn't that the thought behind it all? -
