Some places are starting to ease lock down restrictions  but please be careful.

Look at South Korea who opened up pubs and clubs. They have a brilliant  Trace and track App for tracing the infection – Covid 19. A 29 year old has infected 86 people on a night out so far.

Its shows the brilliance of the App and high lights how dangerous and infectious this Covid 19 is.

As a consequence, South Korea has shut down again.

This should be expected though in any ease of restrictions.

Masks could be a useful tool in stopping the spread of the infection.  Obviously the medical profession and carers will need them before the general population but we can make our own.

Wearing a face mask won’t protect you from contracting COVID-19. However, it can help prevent you from spreading the virus to others.

      Recommendations include:

Wear cloth face masks in public settings, especially in areas of significant community-based transmission, such as grocery stores and pharmacies.
Don’t put cloth face masks on children under the age of 2, people who have trouble breathing, people who are unconscious, or people who are unable to remove the mask on their own.
Use cloth face masks rather than surgical masks or N95 respirators, as these critical supplies must be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders.
Healthcare professionals should exercise extreme caution when using homemade face masks. These masks should preferably be used in combination with a face shield that covers the entire front and sides of the face and extends to the chin or below.
NOTE: Wash homemade cloth masks after every use. When removing, be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth. Wash hands immediately after removing.

      Benefits of homemade face masks

Cloth face masks can be made at home from common materials, so there’s an unlimited supply.
They may lower the risk of people without symptoms transmitting the virus through speaking, coughing, or sneezing.
They’re better than not using any mask and offer some protection, especially where social distancing is hard to maintain.

      Risks of homemade face masks

They may provide a false sense of security. While homemade face masks offer some degree of protection, they offer a lot less protection than surgical masks or respirators. One 2008 studyTrusted Source indicated that homemade face masks may be half as effective as surgical masks and up to 50 times less effective than N95 respirators.
They don’t replace or reduce the need for other protective measures.

Proper hygiene practices, washing hands regular for at least 20 seconds and social distancing are still the best methods of keeping yourself safe.

Here's a couple of tutorials for makig masks.  I'm going to make myself 3 tomorrow – 1 to wear in public, 1 clean one for next use and 1 for the wash.

Stay safe all and good luck in the fight against this infection.

Achat support emailed me and  has refunded Jess and I  for our 12 month subscription from April 2020 onwards.

Before that we obviously paid for a valid ticket like everyone else.

If anyone else has paid for a subscription that includes April 2020 onwards, I suggest you also contact Achat support as it is free to use from April 2020 onwards.

We got refunded in A$ (Achat credit) so you should too.

This is the answer I received back:

            Hi,
we plan to keep the operation as it is, in the future users need only A$ to buy different things, 'premium membership' will not be needed to use clothes, positions etc. you purchased once. We plan to use the user's level to limit available program features if needed, as it was done when entering the 'City' scene.
            Regards,
            AChat support

I'm not sure what is limited.

I have now forwarded a further email to Achat support to refund my spouse and I  as we both bought a 12 month subscription in Jan 2020
Again, I will keep you posted with any response.

The Lyrid meteor shower comes to skies in the Northern Hemisphere. Apri 21 -22

Lyrid meteor shower 2020 coincides with a new moon on Tuesday giving stargazers especially dark skies to watch the celestial spectacle – with up to 15 shooting stars visible per hour

The Lyrid meteor shower comes to skies in the Northern Hemisphere this month

Experts say the peak will be between April 21-22 at the hours before dusk

The shower should be more visible than usual as it coincides with a new Moon

Last years Lyrids happened at the same time as a bright waning gibbous moon — a phase that comes very close to being a full moon.

The Lyrids are rock and dust left behind by the comet C/1861 G (Thatcher) as the Earth drifts through a cloud of debris left behind by the icy space rock.

Every year, the Earth intersects with Thatcher's dusty tail and particles of the comet are seen streaking through the sky where the usually burn up.

Specks of meteor travel at about 110,000 mph.

While meteor showers create streaks in the sky that can be seen on Earth from miles away, the meteoroids that cause them are actually quite small.

Some meteors leave brilliant trails behind them in the form of ionized gas.

‘Meteor showers on Earth are caused by streams of meteoroids hitting our atmosphere,’ explains an interactive website that plots all the meteor streams that orbit the sun.

‘These meteoroids are sand- and pebble-sized bits of rock that were once released from their parent comet.

‘Some comets are no longer active and are now called asteroids'.

To see the shooting stars you will need to be in an area of low light pollution with a clear sky with minimal cloud cover.

According to astronomers, optimal viewing is in the few hours before dawn no matter where you are in the Northern Hemisphere.

While telescopes would enhance the fidelity for viewers, the meteors can usually be seen with the naked eye.

To locate where the meteors will be passing through, viewers can use the brightest star in the constellation of Lyra to find what astronomers call the 'radiant.'
